Media reported that the EU plans to impose new sanctions against Russia

In the European Union next week will discuss new sanctions against Russia because of the deteriorating situation in Syria. This was in the Thursday, October 13, according to The Wall Street Journal citing European diplomats.

The publication noted that US Secretary of State Dzhon Kerri is scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergeem Lavrovym on Saturday in Switzerland to discuss the situation in Syria, and then to go to London for talks with European officials. The meeting will be held on Monday, October 17th.

Approval of any sanctions are planned. However, they will be given "serious consideration" if the attack on Aleppo will continue and the situation will deteriorate.

It is expected that the expansion of anti-Russian sanctions affect officials who would be made to the existing list of EU.
